The Mercer Island Visual Arts League (MIVAL) has recently announced their 43rd Annual Junior Art Show at the Mercer Island Wells Fargo Bank during Summer Celebration, Mercer Island’s summer festival, on July 8th and 9th.

This juried art show will be open from June 29th to July 9th, and it will feature several pieces of art from current MIVAL Jr. artists.

MIVAL Jr., MIVAL’s new youth outreach program, is currently exhibiting its first and very successful show for middle and high school students at the Lighthouse Gallery at Covenant Shores. MIVAL Jr.’s key mission is to provide youth with opportunities to display their art through shows within the community.

If you have a young artist who would love to display their art, MIVAL is currently accepting submissions for art pieces to showcase at the Junior Art Show. All artists from kindergarten through high school are invited to submit their two-dimensional and three-dimensional artwork, including drawing, painting, sculpture, and photography. The works will be displayed in the lobby of Wells Fargo Bank, the event’s sponsor.

Artists will have a chance to win awards and cash prizes. Financial support for the show has been provided by Wells Fargo Bank, MIVAL members, Mercer Island businesses, and private donors.

MIVAL Jr. recently received a grant from the Mercer Island Community Fund to help support this upcoming art show, as well as numerous other events throughout the year.  These volunteer-ran events are incredible opportunities for youth in the community to share their art and connect with other young emerging artists in the Mercer Island Community.
