In April, the City of Mercer Island will host its Leap for Green Sustainability Fair at the Mercer Island Community and Event Center (MICEC). This year’s event will take place on Saturday, April 14th, from 10 am to 2 pm.

This free event began in 2008 to celebrate Earth Day (April 22) by promoting healthy environmental practices and activities for kids and adults and to raise general awareness of local sustainability resources.

This year’s theme is “On The Move,” all about getting around the Island and the region more sustainably.
Activities this year include:

  • Live Entertainment & Music (Yaamba Marimba – all day; The Bus Boys – 11:30 am)
  • Arts & Crafts
  • Educational Activities on Gardening, Plants & Composting
  • Luther Burbank wetland tour
  • Farm Animals
  • Sustainability vendors and booths
  • Several Food Carts
  • Alternative-fuel City fleet vehicles (Electric, Propane, etc.)
  • Electric Bike Demos
  • Transit Info & Updates
  • Giveaways

The fair will take place indoors and out, rain or shine!

The Mercer Island Community and Event Center is located at 8236 SE 24th Street.
