Summer is fast approaching, and warmer weather on the island means more time outside with friends and family.

Among Mercer Island’s best features are its swim and tennis clubs, providing social fun in the sun and great opportunities for both kids and adults to participate in competitive and recreational swim and tennis programs. The island’s three members-only swim and tennis clubs include the Mercer Island Beach Club (MIBC), Mercer Island Country Club (MICC), and the Mercerwood Shore Club (MSC). All feature outdoor pools; swim, diving, and water polo teams; and year-round swimming (a seasonal “bubble” is installed over the pools in the winter).

Call the clubs directly to learn more about membership and benefits, current waitlists, new member fees, monthly dues, and more.

Located on the island’s southeast shoreline, the Mercer Island Beach Club enjoys a fantastic setting on 7.5 acres of waterfront property, plus an incredible view of Mount Rainier. Club amenities include a 2,200 square-foot state-of-the art fitness center with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the lake, six outdoor tennis courts, two pools (activity and competition), lakeside picnic and grilling areas, a children’s playground, 74-slip marina (boats & jet skis), kayak and paddle board racks, pickleball courts, basketball and volleyball courts, and a clubhouse for club socials and private events. Founded in 1954, MIBC is member-owned and has a membership limit of 500 equity members.

Conveniently located on the eastern shore of Mercer Island, Mercerwood Shore Club (MSC) was founded in 1953, making it the oldest club though it offers the most modern facilities. MSC opened a new, state-of-the-art clubhouse in July 2015. The 6,000 square-foot space features a modern lounge, cardio studio, weight room, hot tub, and wading pool for toddlers. MSC members also enjoy 500 feet of waterfront property, a 25-meter pool with a one-meter diving board, four outdoor tennis courts, a sandy beach and boat slips.

Mercer Island Country Club

Serving its members since 1967, the Mercer Island Country Club (MICC) is conveniently located on the south end of the island. Though not a lakefront property like MIBC or MSW, it’s considered a great year-round club and is ideal for avid tennis players. It’s the only club on the island with both indoor and outdoor courts – 15 total (7 indoor and 8 outdoor) – and offers year-round programming. MICC also features an eight-lane, 25-yard pool with a spring diving board and a remodeled fitness and weight room with high-tech machines, including LeMond spin bikes and TRX equipment.

MICC offers two types of memberships: swim-and-fitness (does not include tennis) and full membership (includes tennis). It may also offer summer memberships (call for availability).
