Back in early in 2018, Mayor Debbie Bertlin proclaimed that the City would host its first Arbor Day celebration at Luther Burbank Park, in conjunction with the MTSG Annual Tree Planting Celebration. The October event was a great success: approximately 200 volunteers planted nearly 1,200 native shrubs and trees!

Celebrating Arbor Day was the final requirement needed for the City to obtain Tree City USA designation, which recognizes the many ways a city can support trees and urban forestry, and makes it eligible for certain urban forestry grant programs.
