Description
The City of Mercer Island and Mercer Island Visual Arts League (MIVAL) invite artists of all ages to participate in a collaborative creative event. In celebration of Lunar New Year, islanders gather to decorate lanterns and light up Town Center with an outdoor art display.
You can contribute a lantern to the display in three ways:
- Pick up free lantern supplies at the Mercer Island Community & Event Center (MICEC) from January 28th through February 11th, during regular business hours.
- Meet on January 28th for the lantern pick-up and artmaking day at MICEC, where event organizers will provide lanterns and acrylic paints. Feel free to bring your own supplies!
- Purchase supplies to make your own lantern, which must be solar-powered and suitable for outdoor display. If you purchase your own supplies, e-mail [email protected] for further instructions and to confirm your participation.
Please note that children 12 and under must be accompanied by a parent or adult at the in-person artmaking day on January 28th. For detailed information on creating and displaying your lantern, please visit the event website.
