Description

The City of Mercer Island and Mercer Island Visual Arts League (MIVAL) invite artists of all ages to participate in a collaborative creative event. In celebration of Lunar New Year, islanders gather to decorate lanterns and light up Town Center with an outdoor art display.

You can contribute a lantern to the display in three ways:

  1. Pick up free lantern supplies at the Mercer Island Community & Event Center (MICEC) from January 28th through February 11th, during regular business hours.
  2. Meet on January 28th for the lantern pick-up and artmaking day at MICEC, where event organizers will provide lanterns and acrylic paints. Feel free to bring your own supplies!
  3. Purchase supplies to make your own lantern, which must be solar-powered and suitable for outdoor display. If you purchase your own supplies, e-mail [email protected] for further instructions and to confirm your participation.

Please note that children 12 and under must be accompanied by a parent or adult at the in-person artmaking day on January 28th. For detailed information on creating and displaying your lantern, please visit the event website.
