Description

SJCC Book Fest in Your Living Room presents New York Times journalist Jennifer Steinhauer, author of The Firsts: The Inside Story of Women Reshaping Congress, moderated by Elaine Kraft and Maxima Patashnik.

Celebrate Passover with Stroum Jewish Community Center by honoring Miriam and her legacy of leadership! There are more women in Congress now than ever before. With the groundbreaking election of Vice President Kamala Harris, what can we learn from the past to ensure this trend continues while also making room for greater minority representation? The Firsts chronicles these trailblazing women of the freshman class of the 116th Congress, from campaigns to their impact in the White House and in popular culture. Journalist and author Jennifer Steinhauer will discuss her new book and her experiences in covering some of the most powerful and influential women in Congress and how they contributed to Harris’s election.

This event is moderated by Elaine Kraft, Intergovernmental and Communications Director at Cascade Water Alliance, and Maxima Patashnik, Director of Government and Community Relations at Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle.

Tickets for the talk are $12. Tickets for the talk, book, and shipping are $22. Zoom links will be emailed one hour before the event starts. Ticket sales end on March 23rd at 6 pm.
