Flowers from Pike Place Market vendors are coming to Mercer Island for a second season, thanks to a continued community grassroots effort to support flower farmers and brighten spirits and homes with beautiful blooms.
The effort began last year during the early weeks of the COVID-19 pandemic to support flower farmers when Pike Place Market closed. According to Vikki’s Flower Farmers – a site where you can place your flower orders this season – flower farmer Vikki Cha and Tara Clark, a Seattle community activist and founder of the Believe Love Unite movement, along with the help of many volunteers, “found homes for over 19,000 dozen flowers providing $420,000+ to 52 Hmong family farms,” during the 2020 season.
Mercer Island customers can purchase tulip bouquets online and pick-up their orders on Thursdays at one of two island locations – one located mid-island and one located on the northwest side of the island.
