To celebrate their “refreshed” look and new menu items, Freshy’s Seafood Shack will be holding a grand re-opening event this coming Mother’s Day weekend, May 12th through the 14th.

An important weekend in the history of Freshy’s Seafood Market, Mother’s Day weekend marks the anniversary of the fish ‘n chips window that Bryce Caldwell opened alongside their established fresh seafood market.

This past February, Mercer Island residents were thrilled when Bryce Caldwell opened Freshy’s Local Market, a farm-to-market store with organic seafood, meat, produce, and more, only a block away from the original location of Freshy’s Seafood Market, established in 2010.

Now that the market has moved to a new location, Caldwell had the opportunity to expand the original location, and he decided to give Freshy’s Seafood Shack a fresh makeover that puts a bigger emphasis on casual indoor dining. He’s added even more seating, more entertainment, and new options to their already-delicious, cooked-to-order menu.

One of their newest menu items takes a departure from their seafood smorgasbord; their newest freshly ground Painted Hills beef burger has already been getting rave reviews. If you stop by on Taco Tuesday, they’ve got fish tacos for $2.50 a piece – quite a steal for the fresh, high-quality fish that Freshy’s uses for all of their fish menu items. Give their local favorite Grilled Fresh Rockfish Tacos a try, with rockfish on freshly made 6-inch corn tortillas and fresh-cut tomato, cabbage, and salsa on the side.

While still unmistakably the site of a former gas station, the Seafood Shack has new double doors and expanded seating for up to 42 guests. The floors need some love, but color jumps off the walls inside and two flat screen televisions, sports team banners (Go Seahawks!), and bright flags adorn the walls and ceiling.

You won’t mind hanging out with a basket of their Alaska Halibut Fish ‘n Chips or a Po’ boy sandwich to catch some of the game on the flat screen with family and friends.

With warmer weather, the outdoor patio and window for walk-up ordering will soon open. In the meantime, Caldwell welcomes you to spend some time inside.

“We would like to invite everyone to stop by,” he said. “Come see our new digs, have a beer, and try a few of our new menu items.”

We’re excited, too – Freshy’s Seafood Shack is a Sirianni Group favorite. With locally sourced fish and shellfish, Freshy’s Seafood Shack is one of the best casual seafood spots on Mercer Island, and their refreshed interior and new menu additions keep them at the top of our list.

Freshy’s Seafood Shack is located at 2411 76th Ave SE.  Learn more about Freshy’s at www.freshysseafoodmarket.com.
