Homegrown's Ben Friedman to speak at Farmers Market Celebration

MIFMA delicious evening awaits. The Mercer Island Farmers Market (MIFM) is hosting its annual spring fundraising event,”Cultivating Taste,” on Sunday, May 17th, 5:30 to 8 pm, at Lilly’s in Aljoya.

Dinner, hors d’oevres, and dessert will feature locally grown, seasonal foods. This year, MIFM welcomes special guest speaker, Ben Friedman, co-founder of Homegrown Sustainable Sandwich Shop.

Friedman and his partner Brad Gillis, both native Islanders, recently opened their eighth location of Homegrown on Mercer Island.

“I’m eager to hear Ben’s talk about his ‘sandwich environmentalism’ philosophy, and how he’s making his vision a reality through his farm and his restaurants,” said Mindy Landsman, President of the Mercer Island Farmers Market Board of Directors.

Guests will enjoy live music, a magician’s tricks, and chances to win raffle prizes.
