Independent Bookstore Day (IBD) is on Saturday, April 28th, and Island Books will be hosting a day-long celebration from 8 am to 8 pm. The community is invited to stop by for food, arts and crafts, talks with authors, live music, and much more!
Here is a schedule of the events and the various activities available throughout the day, as seen on their website:
Island Books will also have special offers running all day, as described on their website:
In addition to these activities, Island Books is one of the participating locations for the Bookstore Champions Challenge. You can enter the Bookstore Champion challenge by picking up a passport at any of the 23 participating locations on April 28th and getting stamps at each location you visit on Independent Bookstore Day.
According to the rules for this challenge, if you get stamps from all Seattle-area stores before the end of the day, you can qualify as an “Indie Bookstore Champion” and earn a 25% discount card good at any participating store for a full year.
If you’re not able to make it to the 19 participating bookstores (a few of them are chains), there is another way to achieve a prize with your passport and have fun! If you get your passport stamped by at least 3 participating stores, you are still eligible to trade in your passport for a 30% off coupon good for a single purchase at any participating location.
For Islanders looking to complete their passport (or at least check off three stores), Island Books recommends stopping by their store, then checking out the other participating Eastside bookstores, such as Brick & Mortar Books and BookTree, or visiting their friends in Seattle, like Third Place Books in Seward Park and Fantagraphics in Georgetown.
Support your local bookstores and enjoy these free activities available for all ages on April 28th!
