Whether you are low maintenance, high maintenance or somewhere in between, you might enjoy Polished, a new personal-maintenance app company, recently launched by Mercer Island resident, Selena Famularo.

Currently in beta testing, Polished functions like the Uber app for booking on-site beauty and grooming services. Users can book independent beauty professionals to provide services in their home, office, or another convenient location.

Famularo believes Polished will be a helpful solution for time-crunched parents, busy professionals, seniors with limited mobility, or anyone who wants to beat the Seattle traffic and enjoy a haircut or pedicure in the comfort of their own home.

“I decided to start the app when I couldn’t find any similar service locally. My twins were 6 months old and I hadn’t had a haircut or manicure since before their birth,” Famularo said. “With other apps like Task Rabbit and Neighborly that make our lives more convenient, I thought that this was a gap in the market that should be filled.”

Serving the greater Seattle area, including Mercer Island, Bellevue, and Redmond, Polished launched exclusively with hair services. Famularo hopes to expand quickly to offer a full suite of salon and spa services, including manicures, pedicures, makeup applications, spray tans, and more.
