On Sunday evening at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Islanders gathered to honor and remember the victims of the Paris and Beirut terror attacks.  The event was organized by Mercer Island French-language students, who provided a poster for visitors to sign as well candles for lighting. The candles were sold for $2 each with proceeds benefiting Red Cross. The card will be sent to Mercer Island French exchange students in Thonon les Bains, Mercer Island’s Sister City.

Islander Kim Chou attended the event with her family and shared the above photo along with a post on her Facebook page:

“We went to a small vigil on the island to honor the victims of the Paris attack. The group that organized it (local high school kids in French class) sang songs including Imagine by John Lennon. ‘Imagine all the people, living life in peace.'”

If you were unable to attend the event but would still like to make a donation, you can do so at the Red Cross website.
