After 26 years as Mercer Island Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, Terry Moreman recently announced her plans to retire.
In an email sent to the local business community this morning, she shared:
What does one say after 26 years in a job that has been better – more fun, more surprising, more interesting, and definitely longer-lasting – than you could have expected? I’m going to miss everyone, and I know the Chamber will continue to grow and prosper with Laurie. Thanks for the memories.
Throughout the years, Terry has organized countless Chamber meetings, luncheons, and speakers; recognized outstanding local business with the Chamber’s Business of the Year award; organized three annual Mercer Island Art Uncorked summer events; coordinated local business Halloween trick-or-treating events; and much more.
Filling her shoes is Mercer Island resident and local native Laurie Pettigrew Givan. Laurie graduated from Mercer Island High School in 1989 and the University of Washington in 1993. She brings a strong background in sales and marketing from her previous positions at local companies Eddie Bauer and Packaging Specialties. She and her husband, also a local native, returned to make their home on Mercer Island in 2009. They have two sons who attend school at Lakeridge and Islander Middle School.
Be sure to check out the Mercer Island Reporter’s interview with Laurie, which was published today. Welcome, Laurie, and congratulations, Terry, on your retirement!
