The Groveland neighborhood began as a summer Bible camp in the 1920s. A few of the original homes built here remain, though now the neighborhood features homes of all sizes and styles.
The property that is now Groveland Park was purchased by the City in 1965 and offers Mercer Island’s only westside public beach. Groveland Beach Park also features a playground area, barbecues, a volleyball court, and a dock, which is a popular spot for fishing and sunbathing.
