Get in the holiday spirit with Mercer Island’s Holiday Tree Lighting and Firehouse Munch, festive shopping events, holiday performances, and more!

1. Sip & Shop – A Holiday Shopping Boutique of Unique Gift Items
Monday, December 1st, 6 – 8:30 pm
Thirteen vendors from on and off-island will be featuring a wide variety of beautiful items for this shopping event at the MI Country Club. A portion of sales will be donated to MIYFS.

2. “Soup and Sound” Advent Concert Series
Thursday, December 4th, 11:30 am
Emmanuel Episcopal Church invites you to the first annual “Soup and Sound” Advent Concert series with Advent and Christmas music provided by Susan E. Bloomfield, organist, on the magnificent Beckerath organ. The event begins with a lunch of homemade soup and bread at 11:30 am followed by music at noon.

3. Sparkle & Style . . . A Holiday Fashion Evening
Thursday, December 4th, 6 – 8 pm, 77 Central Apartments
Socialize, celebrate, and be inspired at this holiday-styling event, brought to you by Au Courant Salon, POSH Wardrobe & Image Consulting, and Stella & Dot jewelry. Chocolates from Island Treats also available for sampling.

4. Holiday Tree Lighting and Firehouse Munch
Friday, December 5th from 6:30 – 8:30 pm, Mercerdale Park & North Fire Station
Gather your friends and family for the community tree lighting ceremony and caroling followed by treats, Santa photos, and other festive activities at the Firehouse.

5. Lions’ Christmas Tree Sale
Currently on sale through Sunday, December 21st (Saturdays, 10 am – 7 pm, Sundays, 1 – 7 pm), Farmers Insurance Parking Lot
Pick out the perfect Christmas Tree at the annual Lions’ Christmas Tree Sale.  Proceeds support Mercer Island Youth & Family Services, Mercer Island Boys & Girls Club, and other Mercer Island causes and charities.

6. Youth Theatre Northwest’s “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever”
Performances Friday, December 6th, through Sunday, December 21st
Enjoy Youth Theatre Northwest’s performance of this hilarious Christmas classic.

7. Women’s Christmas Brunch & “Star of Bethlehem” Performance presented by Taproot Theatre
Saturday, December 6th, 9 am
Women Ministries of Evergreen Covenant Church present this annual Christmas event – a highlight of the season for all women and guests. Enjoy a catered brunch and an inspirational theatre performance, “Star of Bethlehem,” by Taproot Theatre.

8. Holiday Magic Show at the Library
Saturday, December 6th, 2 – 3 pm
A special holiday children’s magic show at the library! Magician Jeff Evans will wow the audience with wacky inventions, amazing toys, and magical mayhem.

9. Parents’ Night Out: Drop, Shop & Dine
Saturday, December 6th, 5 – 9 pm, Mercer Island Community & Event Center
Parents – drop off the kids for some fun and games with a guest appearance from Santa while you finish your holiday shopping or attend a holiday party.

10. Strum All Ye Faithful Concert
Saturday, December 6th, 7 – 9 pm
Mercer Island Presbyterian Church will be hosting the Seattle Mandolin Orchestra, to be accompanied by MIPC’s own Campanella Bells. The performance will include a Christmas carol singalong of beloved Christmas favorites.

11. Island Sound’s “Candy Cane Cafe” Performances
Saturday, December 6th (7 pm) & Sunday, December 7th (2 pm & 7 pm), MIHS
Girls’ choir Island Sound will delight audiences with a festive vocal performance of “Candy Cane Cafe.”

12. Almost Hanukkah Under the Stars
Saturday, December 13th, 5:30 – 7:30 pm, SJCC
This festive and fun Hanukkah party will feature kid-friendly band Recess Monkey, delicious food vendors, Hanukkah trivia, games, and crafts.

13. Island Girls & Prep Choir’s “Candy Cane Lane” Performances
Saturday, December 13th (7 pm) & Sunday December 14th (2 pm & 7 pm), MIHS
Mercer Island children’s choirs, Prep (children in 2nd through 4th grades) and Island Girls (girls in 4th through 6th grades), will delight audiences with this festive performance of “Candy Cane Lane.”

14. Island Youth Ballet’s “Excerpts from the Nutcracker”
Performances Saturday, December 13th, through Sunday, December 21st, SJCC
Witness the magic of Island Youth Ballet’s performance of “Excerpts of the Nutcracker.”

15. MIVAL Holiday Show
On display at the Mercer Island Community & Events Center through December 19th
View artwork and holiday gifts of a wide variety, including paintings, ceramics, ornaments, scarves, jewelry, photography, steel sculpture, monoprints, wreaths, decorations and cards.
