The Board of Directors for the Mercer Island Center for the Arts (MICA) has recently released architectural models for its forthcoming performing arts center.  The center, anticipated to open in 2017, will be home to the Academy of Music Northwest, The Children’s Dance Conservatory, Mercer Island Visual Arts League, Musical Mind Studio, Music Works Northwest, and Youth Theatre Northwest.

In a recent email, Louise Kincaid, Executive Director for MICA, shared the following:

Coming in 2017, Mercer Island Center for the Arts will be a focal point for the Island’s thriving performing and visual arts activities and the permanent home for Youth Theatre Northwest.

You can now check out the architectural models for yourself at the Mercer Island Community and Events Center. Board President John Gordon Hill and I delivered to them last week – thanks to the Community Center for their support.

MICA will be located on the site of the Island’s old recycling center, northwest of Mercerdale Park in the heart of downtown Mercer Island. Mercerdale will remain untouched and MICA is working with the City of Mercer Island to ensure that the preservation of trees and green spaces continues to be a priority for community’s quality-of-life.

Louise Kincaid
