Mercer Island’s newest restaurant is about to prove that there’s always room for good pizza, even on an island of multiple pie shops.

Mioposto Pizzeria is hours from debuting its first Eastside location and its fourth Seattle-area restaurant. Located in the new Hadley building, the restaurant brings classic Italian-style pizza to Mercer Island and opens today at 5 pm.

While “pizzeria” may sound casual, Mioposto’s vibe is upscale and intimate. The space was designed by Seattle firm Graham Baba Architects, and while situated in a new building, the restaurant is warm and inviting, with natural wood accents, exposed brick, and walls painted in shades of soft yellow and vibrant marigold. The open kitchen creates a backdrop of friendly bustle and showcases a large mosaic-tiled open-flame oven – the kitchen’s only heat source.

Offering a sophisticated menu featuring locally sourced ingredients, family-friendly weekend brunch, a full bar, and Caffe Vita espresso, Mioposto steps up Mercer Island’s restaurant scene. We put it on par with Bennett’s.

But unlike Bennett’s and the recently opened Pagliacci Pizza and Homegrown Sustainable Sandwiches – all locally owned by Mercer Island residents and/or natives – Mioposto’s co-founders and owners Jeremy and Tiah Hardy live in Seattle. More specifically, they live in Seattle’s Mount Baker neighborhood where they opened their first Mioposto location, but lucky for us, they are Eastside-friendly.

“The Mercer Island community was our very first choice to open our next Mioposto,” said Jeremy Hardy. “We had been looking since 2011 for a suitable location and finally found one. We, both personally and professionally, have so many friends in this respected city that the choice was easy. We can’t wait to finally open our doors to greet our new neighbors.”

You can read our interview with Tiah and Jeremy in our April 2016 post, when we first learned Mioposto was expanding to Mercer Island, as well as check out some great photos of Mioposto’s pizza and other delicious fare.
Better yet, stop by and give Mioposto a try for yourself. Why not tonight?

Mioposto Pizzeria is located at 2601 76th Ave SE. Regular hours are Monday – Friday, 11 am to 10 pm, and Saturday and Sunday, 9 am to 10 pm.
