I’m excited about the new Trellis townhomes coming to Mercer Island. With our low inventory of homes for sale on Mercer Island and the intense competition on homes priced under $1 million, this new development may provide some relief and will be appealing to a range of demographics, including downsizers, young professionals, and first-time home buyers.
The Mercer Island City Council provided unanimous approval of the final long plat for the Trellis project at its March 7th meeting. The council had already provided building permits for the project, which is well underway, but this approval was a final legal step that will provide future owners with “fee simple” ownership (or absolute ownership) of the homes.
The development will be walkable to Town Center, located at 2960 76th Ave SE and 2970 Ave SE, behind Mercerdale Park and Farmers Insurance. It will include 18 contemporary-style homes with 3-4 bedroom floor plans, with square footage between 1900 and 2300 square feet, according to preliminary marketing materials.
