King County elections finalized results show that both special levies overwhelmingly passed.

  • Proposition 1 renews the six-year Capital Projects and Technology Levy to pay for repairs and improvements to school buildings and facilities, plus technology projects that include staff training and computer upgrades.
  • Proposition 2 is a one-year Transportation Levy to replace aging school buses with propane-fueled vehicles.

Mercer Island School District Superintendent Dr. Gary Plano released the following statement:

“I am grateful that Mercer Island voters continue to support their public schools. The Board and I want to express our gratitude to our supporters, volunteers and to this community for placing such a high value on supporting a high-quality public education for our students.”

Proposition 1 passed with 71.1% and Proposition 2 passed with 77.4% voting in support of the measures.
