The City of Mercer Island recently announced that Mercer Island grocery stores are now offering special shopping hours for the high-risk community, including senior (over 60), pregnant, and immuno-compromised individuals.

New Seasons Market has reserved 8 am to 9 am, Monday through Friday, as their Senior Shopping Hour and has extended their Senior discount (10%) to all open hours, Monday through Friday, as an additional courtesy.

Both Mercer Island QFC locations will offer special senior shopping hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 am to 8 am.

Community compliance is voluntary during these hours, but the City expressed thanks to all who find other times to shop.

The City also thanked Councilmember Salim Nice who pursued the designation of special shopping hours for senior, pregnant, and immuno-compromised community members with local grocers.
