Here’s a sneak peek at what the highly anticipated locations of New Seasons Market and Pagliacci Pizza will look like on Mercer Island.

These design renderings were reviewed at the Mercer Island Design Commission’s most recent meeting. New Seasons Market passed final review, though Pagliacci Pizza is still in preliminary review with one or two final review meetings ahead.

Though the Design Commission has played a central role in blocking development on Mercer Island (in 2015, the commission turned down two major developments – the proposed Hines development and a LLC Townhomes development, both planned for Town Center), I spoke with commissioner Lara Sanderson yesterday who said that the Pagliacci Pizza review will move forward.

I have little doubt it will be approved,” she said. “But there are still some questions that need to be worked out, some of which are the city’s to handle.”

New Seasons Market has a planned opening for fall of this year. Pagliacci is likely to open before the end of the year as well.

Are you looking forward to the openings? What are your thoughts on the designs?
