Two weeks ago, the WeLoveMI campaign launched on Mercer Island, aiming to inspire community support for local nonprofits and businesses impacted by COVID-19.

To date, community members have donated over $60,000 to Mercer Island businesses impacted by COVID-19, and non-profits have also reported generous donations coming in.

Additionally, the Rotary Club of Mercer Island provided a generous donation of $11,000 to the campaign, which included $5,000 to the Mercer Island Youth & Family Services, $5,000 to the Mercer Island Community Fund, and an additional $1,000 to help fund the cost of WeLoveMI promotional materials.

But more support is needed as the road ahead is still very uncertain for many organizations. Join your friends and neighbors and support Mercer Island businesses and nonprofits today.

Visit www.WeLoveMI.org to learn more (and check back in as new businesses and nonprofits are being added to the campaign on an ongoing basis).

About WeLoveMI

Who We Are: The WeLoveMI campaign is led by the Mercer Island Community Fund, in collaboration with Mercer Island Trade Inc. (the “company” formed by the Mercer Island High School’s International Entrepreneurship class), the Chamber of Commerce, and other community leaders.

What We’re Doing: WeLoveMI is a COVID-19 relief campaign created by Mercer Islanders for Mercer Islanders. In the midst of this global pandemic, WeLoveMI was created with hopes to inspire local action to ensure that Mercer Island remains a place where our community members are cared for, our business district is vibrant, our schools deliver top-notch education, and our nonprofits deliver services and programs that help our community members and bring us together. We hope that through this relief campaign, islanders will be inspired to come together in response to the COVID-19 pandemic to help our friends and neighbors by supporting the nonprofits and businesses who serve our island.

The campaign website, wwwWeLoveMI.org, which launched on April 15, 2020, is making it easy for community members to learn and make donations directly to local organizations and businesses that have been negatively impacted by COVID-19.

At www.WeLoveMI.org, islanders can make tax-deductible donations directly to trusted and proven 501(c)(3) nonprofits that benefit Mercer Island citizens, including: the Mercer Island Community Fund, Mercer Island Youth & Family Services, Mercer Island Schools Foundation, Mercer Island Boys & Girls Club, the Stroum Jewish Community Center, and others.

In addition, each Mercer Island business is being encouraged to create their own GoFundMe campaign and WeLove MI is providing a directory of all the island’s GoFundMe campaigns, linked on WeLoveMI.org, so that caring islanders can easily support the businesses of their choice. Please go to www.WeLoveMI.org to help Mercer Island today.
