Here’s my weekly round-up of upcoming events for the week of February 22th– March 6th for Mercer Island:

Story Times at the Library

Join the Mercer Island Children’s Librarian for stories, songs, rhymes and fun in these 30 to 45-minute programs designed especially for you and your young child.

Tuesday, March 1
Young Toddlers (12 – 24 months) – 10:30 – 11:15 am
Toddlers (2 – 3 years) – 11:30 am – Noon
Thursday, March 3
Infants (0 – 12 months) – 10:30 – 11 am
Preschoolers (3 – 6 years) – 1 – 2 pm

Lost-EdgesLost Edges Art Gallery Show & Artists’ Reception
Reception: Thursday, March 3, 6:30 to 8 pm
Show: February 29 – April 15
Mercer Island Community & Event Center, 8236 SE 24th Street

Lost Edges shows material by four woman artists – Seiko Koyna, Sandy Langford, Colleen Mohn, and Genny Rees – who have been painting together for the past 10 years in a program called Open Studio. Back in 1998, Open Studio was started by five women artists who wanted a place to meet and make art from still life set-ups and photographs; the program continues to this day.


Musical Journey around the World
Friday, March 5, 11:30 am – 12:30 pm
Mercer Island Library, 4400 88th Ave SE

Take a musical trip with this talented trio and explore many different countries through their delightful tunes. Featuring songs in Russian, Spanish, German, Hebrew and many more languages. For kids ages 3 and older.


Youth Theatre Northwest Presents – Legally Blonde: The Musical
March 4 – March 20 | Fridays & Saturdays, 7 pm | Saturdays & Sundays, 2 pm
*No performances on Sat, March 5th.

Based on the hit movie, Legally Blonde: The Musical chronicles the journey of  perky Elle Woods, a fashion savvy, UCLA sorority girl. Expecting a marriage proposal, Elle’s heart is broken when she’s dumped by her boyfriend Warner. Determined to get him back, Elle joins him at Harvard Law School only to find her perfect pink life turned upside down. Follow her through the halls of justice as she tackles stereotypes, snobbery, and scandal with the help of her BFFs and adorable chihuahua Bruiser.

PJ Story Time with Norm Brecke and Nancy Stewart

On the first Saturday of every month, Island Books hosts a children’s pajama story time. This month’s storyteller is Norm Brecke. And don’t miss special guest opener, musician and singer Nancy Stewart! Refreshments will be served.
