Moms Demand Action Event: Be SMART

Congregational Church on Mercer Island, 4545 Island Crest Way
Join Moms Demand Action for a Be SMART presentation regarding responsible storage of firearms. This education campaign was created to bring together all responsible adults to reduce suicides and the number of unintentional shootings that occur when children get ahold of an unsecured firearm.
MICA Community Visioning Session
Monday, June 11, 7 – 8:30 pm
Mercer Island Boys & Girls Club, 4120 86th Ave SE
Throughout the months of May, June, and July, MICA will be holding various large and small community gatherings. They want to hear what you would like to see in a space for the arts on Mercer Island. The first large community visioning session will be a 2-hour session conducted as a series of small group discussions so that all attendees are given an opportunity to share their unique points of view. Each small group discussion will be between 5 – 10 participants. They will be co-moderated by the MICA team and their community input partner, Phinney Bischoff. To take part in the June 11th visioning session you must register on the MICA website.
Community Coffee Hour
Wednesday, June 13 & Friday, June 15, 9 – 10 am

Join Mercer Island Parks & Recreation for Community Coffee Hour every Wednesday and Friday! This is a free program for kids, teens, adults, seniors, and families. Enjoy a hot cup of coffee in a fun and engaging atmosphere with people from the community.

Tabletop Thursdays

Drop by for an afternoon of board games, video games, playing pool or ping-pong, and hanging out. There’s a huge selection of games, and the staff is always up to taking on a new competitor. Games include: Codenames, Mission Red Planet, Settlers of Catan, Carcassonne, Ticket to Ride, Connect 4, Monopoly, and more. Free for ages 7 – 14.

Brain Injury Alliance of WA – Art Show Opening Reception

Tasting through the World of Wine with Shelly Fitzgerald

This class will take you on a wine tasting journey throughout the world by comparing wines from different regions. You’ll taste wines from places such as Africa, the Americas, and Europe, and gain a valuable understanding of what makes them all so unique. You’ll also receive knowledge about wine laws, winemaking techniques, and the effects of climate, history, and soil on wine over time. This class promises to be fun and informative, encouraging you to continue your wine tasting journey beyond the session. With the useful knowledge gained, you can impress your friends and family alike. There will be plenty of housemade special appetizers and tastings, enough for a dinner!
Ponte el Ritmo (Put Your Rhythm On) Music Workshop

Who can resist a fun, energizing program about musical instruments? Help Mercer Island Library kick off their Summer Reading Program and be part of a hands-on, call-and-response rhythm and song workshop highlighting instruments from Cuba and Brazil. Get your exercise as you clap and dance along with the beat. This family program is presented by Elspeth Savani and Jeff “Bongo” Busch, and all ages are welcome. Presented in Spanish and English.

The All School Performance for Island Youth Ballet features all students in the school from the youngest to the most advanced. Programs are designed to showcase classroom skills and accomplishments from the year.
Restoration Event

Each year, Mercer Island citizens donate hundreds of hours of their time to maintain the community’s parks and open spaces: picking up litter, planting trees, cutting down ivy, painting over graffiti, or repairing trails.
Mercer Island Farmers Market

The Mercer Island Farmers Market is open every Sunday from June – October. Say hello to your favorite vendors and kick the season off with us. Youth Theatre Northwest’s Faculty Showcase
