Community Coffee Hour

Join Mercer Island Parks & Recreation for Community Coffee Hour every Wednesday and Friday! This is a free program for kids, teens, adults, seniors, and families. Enjoy a hot cup of coffee in a fun and engaging atmosphere with people from the community.

Kaleidoscope Play & Learn

Have fun singing songs, telling stories, reading books, creating art, and playing. Kaleidoscope Play & Learn is in English. Ages 5 years and younger with caregiver. Sponsored by the Friends of the Mercer Island Library.


Raise the Roof and Sing Concert

Throughout history, people have used songs to inspire change, help work go faster, celebrate, and make the planet a happier place. Sing along with Nancy Stewart to new and familiar songs! This family program is sponsored by the Friends of the Mercer Island Library and is open to all ages.


Mercer Island Library Birthday Party

Following Nancy Stewart’s sing-a-long, celebrate the 72nd birthday of the Mercer Island Library, open to all ages! Check out old photos and stories of our history. Refreshments will be served. This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Mercer Island Library.


MIVAL’s 43rd Annual Junior Art Show 
June 29 – July 9, 9 am – 6 pm
Mercer Island Wells Fargo Bank, 3001 78th Ave SE

MIVAL is excited to once again recognize our young, creative and emerging artists. June 29th is the opening day for the art show! Awards and prizes are generously donated by Wells Fargo, MIVAL, and the Mercer Island community. Entries are open to all students grades K through 12. Come view the incredible art pieces in the Wells Fargo Bank lobby!


Tabletop Thursdays
Thursday, June 29, 4 – 7 pm
Mercer Island Community & Event Center, 8236 SE 24th Street

Drop by for an afternoon of board games, video games, playing pool or ping-pong, and hanging out. There’s a huge selection of games, and the staff is always up to taking on a new competitor. Games include: Codenames, Mission Red Planet, Settlers of Catan, Carcassonne, Ticket to Ride, Connect 4, Monopoly, and more. Free for ages 7 – 14.

Paddle with the J 
Thursday, June 29, 5:30 – 7:30 pm
SJCC, 3801 East Mercer Way

Meet at the Herzl waterfront (across the street from the J) to spend an evening on the water! We’ll get out the J’s kayaks, canoes, and paddle boards and enjoy some sunshine, get exercise, and meet new friends. Each trip is two hours. There will be a lifeguard on duty. This event is $10 for SJCC members and $15 for guests.


Open Book Club: The Last Painting of Sara de Vos
Thursday, June 29, 7:30 – 9 pm

For our June Open Book Club, we’ll be reading The Last Painting of Sara de Vos by Dominic Smith. This bestselling novel tells multiple stories, beginning with the story behind Sara de Vos, the first woman to be admitted as a master painter to the city’s Guild of St. Luke. Open Book Club meets on the last Thursday of every month. All are welcome to attend, and if you purchase your book here in the store, you’ll get a 10% discount.
