Islander Middle School students in Julie Biggs’s Art II classes designed personal superheroes inspired by the Salish artist Jeffrey Veregge and Ruth Carter, the Academy Award® winning costume designer of Black Panther. Students then collaborated in teams to combine their ideas into eleven culturally rich hero designs. They worked with local artist Alice Finch to transform their ideas into LEGO® posters promoting diversity and social justice. Discover the superhero qualities in all of us as you view these colorful works of art.
