The World as Your Classroom

Topics covered include working abroad, taking a gap year, participating in study abroad programs, and earning your entire degree in a foreign country. Learn about scholarships, foreign colleges where classes are taught in English, colleges that are free to international students, and local colleges that have the best study abroad options. Students and parents welcome. Sponsored by the Friends of the Mercer Island Library. This program is part of the Life After High School series.

Every year, the Mercer Island Preschool Association (MIPA) organizes a giant consignment sale of gently used toys, children’s clothes, and equipment. Clean out your closets and be a seller, and/or come for the sale and pick up great bargains. The proceeds (35% of consignment sales and 100% of donations sales) go toward funding MIPA charities and operations.

MIVAL Holiday Show & Reception

The MIVAL Holiday Show and Reception are presented by the Mercer Island Arts Council in conjunction with Mercer Island Parks and Recreation and the Mercer Island Visual Arts League (MIVAL). Featured art includes the painting, sculpture, jewelry, fabric art, cards and other work of the talented MIVAL artists and is a wonderful place to shop for quality artwork and holiday gifts. This year’s juror is artist Susan E. Walker www.susanwalkerstudio.com. Please join us for the Opening Reception and Award Ceremony, with hors d’oeuvres, refreshments and live music.

Earthcorps Event: Fall Planting at Clarke Beach
Saturday, November 7, 10 am – 2 pm
Clarke Beach, 7700 block of East Mercer Way
Join EarthCorps, Mercer Island Parks & Recreation, and community members to continue working in this great park. Clarke Beach is located on the shores of Lake Washington and hosts a wide variety of activities such as swimming, hiking and picnicking. The forested area of this park has received lots of help over the years, but still needs some work!

Mattress Sale – Mercer Island Football Booster Club Fundraiser

Need a new mattress? Mercer Island Football is working with Custom Fundraising Solutions on their first ever mattress fundraiser. Groups all across the nation have benefited from this event. Locally, Kentwood Football earned $15,740, Bothell Football earned $13,505, and many more. Help us have a successful sale too. All purchases go towards supporting Mercer Island Football.
