The Mercer Island Presbyterian Church invites you for a little early Halloween celebration at their All-Church MIPC Fall Festival. All ages welcome to come in costume for the Costume Contest! Here’s the schedule of events:

5:30 pm – Trunk & Treat – Decorate your trunk or bring candy to help hand out
6:00 pm – Spaghetti dinner – let us know you are coming so we can plan!
6:30 pm – Costume Contest & games


MIPTACouncil-HeaderMercer Island Candidate Forum – Focus on Schools (hosted by the MI PTA Council)

Monday, October 26, 7 – 9 pm

West Mercer Elementary – Gym, 4141 81st Ave SE

Come hear from all of the Mercer Island candidates running in the November 3rd General Election. This forum is an opportunity for the candidates to share their positions on school-related issues. This forum will include a brief talk from each of the candidates and an ample audience Q&A period.

Opportunities at Community and Technical Colleges

What opportunities are available at our local Community and Technical Colleges? Learn about admissions, academic programs, and student services (including services/programs for students with special needs or other special considerations) from the Senior Outreach Coordinator at Seattle Central College. Students and parents welcome. This program is part of the Life After High School series. Look for other programs in October and November.

Trunk or Treat at Holy Trinity

Wednesday, October 28, 6 – 8 pm

Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 8501 SE 40th St

Holy Trinity Lutheran and Emmanuel Episcopal churches have partnered to invite you to Trunk or Treat, an evening of old-fashioned Halloween fun. Come in costume for a parade, carve a pumpkin, participate in crafts and games, enjoy pizza and popcorn, and of course, trunk or treat! Nancy Stewart will provide festive Halloween music.

Monster Mash Dash

Saturday, October 31st, 10 am

Luther Burbank Park, 2040 84th Ave SE

Cost: $10 | Children in strollers are free!

Dress up for a fun run through Luther Burbank Park on Saturday, October 25th. Runners will run from the south end of the park to Calkins Point and back. Refreshments served afterwards. Costume contest with prizes awarded! Dogs on a leash are welcome and also encouraged to wear a costume! Register by October 23rd!

Cost: $3/child for MIPA members, $5/child for non-members

Bring your little monsters, princesses, and superheroes to Mercer Island Preschool Association’s annual Halloween bash on Saturday, October 31st! This fun, non-spooky Halloween party is designed for preschoolers and all children ages 1 to 6.  There will be Halloween-themed crafts, games, activities, and tricks and treats! Parents are invited to bring children in their favorite costumes.

Mercer Island Martial Arts invites you to join in the fun for their 18th annual Halloween party and food drive – a fun party for a fun cause! There will be a huge bouncy house, candy, martial arts demo, costume contest, and so much more! Please bring non-perishable food item for Youth & Family Services.

Chamber of Commerce Trick-or-Treating Event

Saturday, October 31st, 3 – 5 pm

Mercer Island Town Center & South End Shopping Center (Over 60 participating businesses)

Little ghosts and goblins are invited to trick or treat at over 60 local businesses for this fifth-annual event, organized by the Mercer Island Chamber of Commerce. Island businesses downtown and on the south end of Mercer Island will be giving out treats on Halloween from 3 to 5 pm. Look for posters in the windows of participating businesses. Maps will also be available. Trick-or-treaters are asked to bring a non-perishable food donation for the Mercer Island Food Pantry.

Hooked on Books

Sunday, November 1, 3 – 5 pm

Stroum Jewish Community Center, 3801 East Mercer Way

Cost: Free (please bring a can of food for the Jewish Family Service Food Bank)

Parents, get young kids to love books! At this celebration of reading for infants, preschoolers, and young kids, learn simple activities that include reading, writing, singing, talking, and play. We’ve got family-friendly interactive fun: story time, arts and crafts, literacy resources, yoga exercises, snack, and sing-along. Hear dynamic storytellers bring reading to life!

Meet local children’s authors, a librarian, and more including:

  • Brianna Caplan Sayres, local author, will read one of her books and share her experiences as a children’s author
  • Linda Earnst, children’s librarian, will discuss ways that families can enhance children’s literacy
  • Andrea Lott and Tricia Murphy Madden, authors of “The ABCs of Exercise,” will lead a fun yoga/movement activity with children
  • PJ Library will share a story
