Join EarthCorps and the City of Mercer Island as we work in this local park! This forested ravine hosts lush plants, areas for wildlife to live, wetlands, and walking trails. This project is part of a larger effort to aid Mercer Island Parks, and we appreciate your help.

Soapstone Carving Workshop

With many magical castles, soaring mountain peaks and tasty food, it offers an off the beaten track experience that will both surprise and delight visitors. Presented by Lubica Turner, a coach, trainer and speaker who thrives helping people achieve their best. She calls home both Slovakia and the Washington state, where she’s known for her love of photography, cycle touring and travel.

Meditation and Mindfulness for Everyone

This beginning level class will answer your questions about meditation, provide basic information about the benefits of having a regular practice and tips and tricks you can use for success. The last 5 – 10 minutes you will be guided through a short meditation. Join us for this enlightening and relaxing experience!

Wine Tasting & Live Music
Saturday, October 12, 4 – 6:30 pm

We will have a terrific wine tasting with Chateau Ste. Michelle (CSM) Winery. We have the CSM Syrah (a happy hour wine) and the CSM Viognier as glass pours. Also, we are partnering with them to support scholarships for Washington State University’s Viticulture and Enology students. Every bottle sold will benefit the WSU program and the students who otherwise may not be able to afford to attend. Drink Up and GO COUGS! After the tasting, Chris Stevens and Jack Cook will play Jazz and Blues until 8:30ish. Terrific music from two very talented guitar players. If you haven’t checked these guys out yet, you should.

Chocolate hosts “Chocolate” classes at our Mercer Island chocolate shop for those who want to know more about their favorite indulgence and for those who just want to “play in the chocolate!” The classes usually last from 1.5 to 2 hours and includes the art of tempering chocolate and dipping special treats to take home. The class is $79 per person. Class sizes are limited and regularly sell out so please be sure to register in advance.

Finding the Right College Fit

This workshop for high school students and parents will be presented by Claire Nold-Glaser of College Planning Help. Join us to learn about the college search process in a fun and interactive format. Defining student priorities and interests is a great first step, but what if you just don’t know? This session helps illuminate that the college search process can be a rewarding journey of self-discovery, based on sound decision making while minimizing pressure and hype. Resources and tools will be discussed and there will be plenty of time for Q & A.
