MIHS Drama Department presents Shakespeare’s “As You Like It”
Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, April 28 – 30 & May 5 – 7, at 7 pm

All the world’s a stage! Join the Mercer Island High School drama department as they present their spring play, William Shakespeare’s comedy, “As You Like It.” It’s 1992 in Seattle. Join Rosalind, Orlando, Duke Senior and their friends as they run off to Gasworks Park, where they will encounter love at first sight, mistaken identity, and the music of the Seattle grunge scene. Pre-sale tickets can be purchased from the cast or on campus during lunch for $10. Tickets purchased at the door are $15. Seniors 65 and over and children under 7 are $5. MISD families may also purchase tickets online through the district website.

Each year, Mercer Island citizens donate hundreds of hours of their time to maintain the community’s parks and open spaces: picking up litter, planting trees, cutting down ivy, painting over graffiti, or repairing trails. Join us for this Saturday’s events to help contribute to this incredible community effort.
Medicine Take Back Day

Protect our kids, families and environment by properly disposing of your unwanted and expired medicines. Medicines in the home are a leading cause of accidental poisoning, and flushed or trashed medicines can end up polluting waterways. Rates of prescription drug abuse are alarmingly high: over half of teens abusing medicines get them from a family member or friend, including the home medicine cabinet, and often without anyone’s knowledge.
Mercer Island Little League Opening Day
Saturday, April 30, 10:45 am – Noon
South Mercer Playfields, SE 78th & 84th SE
Seattle Mariners pitcher Felix Hernandez will throw the first pitch of the Mercer Island Little League season at the Opening Day ceremonies. The ceremony will also include a parade of teams, a live rendition of the National Anthem performed by Islander Sophie Feldman, and a short speech by King Felix before throwing the opening pitch. Families are invited to enjoy a $5 Home Run lunch, including a hot dog, chips, and water, with all proceeds benefitting MI Little League.
Hollywood’s EXODUS Explored Anew: Talk & Film Screening

Hollywood’s EXODUS Explored Anew: Talk & Film Screening – Foster Hirsch has been a professor at Brooklyn College since 1967, during which time he has published 16 books on theater and film. Join him for an exploration of the groundbreaking 1960 Hollywood production of EXODUS. Screening of the film immediately to follow at 4 pm.
