Looking for classes, summer programs, or after-school activities for your child? Mercer Island has dozens of opportunities for kids (ages 0 – 18) to explore and develop almost any passion, whether that’s basketball or ballet, cooking or coding.
There are several local organizations that organize classes and activities for kids. Learn more below:
The City of Mercer Island offers seasonal classes for kids ages 2 to 18 through their Parks and Recreation Department. You’ll want to check out the “Play on Mercer!” guide for the myriad of options offered, which include sports, music, and art classes; play-based early childhood development classes; specialized recreation classes; and more.
The local Mercer Island Boys & Girls Club (MIBGC) offers year-round youth sports programs. During the summer, the MIBGC offers specialized summer day camps that dive into topics including the arts, sports, science, exploration, leadership, and more.
The Stroum Jewish Community Center (SJCC) offers a robust year-round schedule of classes for babies, toddlers, and school-aged youth, as well as classes and programs for the whole family.
If you’re looking for before or after-school activities or classes for your child, be sure to check with you school’s PTA. Each elementary school offers a variety of enrichment programs, which may include Chess4Life, language and arts classes, STEM classes, Green Team, and more. Islander Middle School and the Mercer Island High School offer athletic programs as well as a variety of clubs – there are over 30 active clubs at MIHS!
